“The castle is full with historical artefacts all in which that have there own back story. When I visited, my attention was immediately grabbed by the suit armour in one of the castle rooms. I loved how the suit of armour was crafted so simple however up close you could see, every individual detail that was placed upon the armour so carefully and precisely. The reason to why I chose the suit armour was because this chunk of metal that a person wore back then gave them significance and title,as a person who wore a suit armour was called a “Knight” a person who protected the royals in charge and would fight in their honour. I wanted to create a piece of body adornment (shawl/cape) inspired by the knights armour, however I wanted to give it a more modern, fashionable look to it, so I had the idea of stripping the armour chest and shoulder plates and just using the jump links to create my body adornment based off the chainmail that is usually underneath or on top of the armour. I also liked the idea of just keeping the colour silver to keep it linked to a knights armour back in the day.”
